Air Force Holmpton has over 60 years of history - During this
time over 15,000 personnel have passed through this establishment - So
there is a fair amount of basis for paranormal activity
This military site was originally known at RAF Partington serving the
forces since WW2. It was during the 1940's that plans came to light
for a new radar system to be installed at various sites, RAF
Partington being one of them.
As the site was being commissioned and the eventual radar system
installed the location grew in size as around 350 personnel worked
there.
Various outbuildings were installed including housing, a cinema, a
chapel, canteen and a medical centre to name a few. It was a real hive
of daily life and activity.
The original Radar Station has long since gone, leaving behind just 31
acres of green fields and a few small buildings.
For years this place has remained a secret even in the local area,
where most people simply did not know of the existence or purpose of
such a substantial facility. Just one or two of them may have worked
here but even today they 'cannot' tell their story.
Building started at Holmpton in 1951 and the bunker opened in 1954
serving until 1975 as an RAF Master Radar Station. In 1985 it was
massively refurbished to form a new RAF Headquarters and closed in
1991 with the ending of the Cold War.
In 2003 RAF Holmpton became the home of a specialist archive unit
holding records of all Cold War Underground establishments built in
the UK between 1945 and the present day. As the archive provides a
public reading room it was decided to open up much of the bunker for
public tours, and these started in 2004 with regular updates each
year.
The guardroom is really all that can be seen today on the surface at
Holmpton as the main building is some distance underground and covers
about 26,000sq ft. (about the size of a supermarket or cinema).
Our Investigation has access to 85% of the site, excluding the offices
and some plant areas due to high voltage etc. The building includes
the following: - 3 operation rooms, Situation room, Communication
Centre, Computer Rooms, Command Pit, Dormitories, Canteen, Officers
Mess Room, Plant Rooms, and Kitchen and Offices.
This site is very large with many different paranormal areas located
upon it. With reports of servicemen seen many times in different
areas. There is one particular gentleman that is seen quite regularly
in the operation room and witnessed by multiple people at the same
time.
There is also said to be an airman who wanders the main building,
pushing people out of his way. Feelings of being watched, light
anomalies and uncomfortable feelings have also been felt.

Please note:
The building at Holmpton was designed for the Military and is
therefore a different environment to that which visitors would
normally encounter. The temperature remains at about 65f and so we
recommend that visitors bring warm clothing. The building will be dark
throughout the night, so for those who may be affected by
claustrophobia please consider your visit carefully.
